What a license check tells you
An active license means the state allows this person to practice. It doesn't measure quality of care, and it doesn't tell you whether they're right for you. Name searches can match more than one person, so confirm the license number, full name and location on the official record.
Some nurses work on a multistate license from another state under the Nurse Licensure Compact. If a search here finds nothing, ask which state issued the license. See which states take part (opens official site).
If you have a concern

- In an emergency, call 911. A licensing board can't help with urgent care.
