Plumber licenses in
Arizona
Arizona licenses plumbers statewide.
Official search run by Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) at azroc.my.site.com.
What the license should say
In Arizona you'll see one of these on a plumber's card, bid or truck:
- CR-37 Plumbing (dual)
- Business; covers both residential and commercial plumbing.
- R-37 Plumbing, including solar (residential)
- Business; water and gas piping, fixtures, sewage treatment and solar plumbing in homes.
- C-37 Plumbing (commercial)
- Business; commercial plumbing work.
- R-37R Plumbing subclassifications
- Business; limited residential scopes such as gas piping, sewers and drains, swimming pool plumbing or solar plumbing liquid systems.
Hiring a company, not a person?
Arizona licenses the contracting business, not individual tradespeople, because employees working for wages for a licensed contractor are exempt from licensing (ARS 32-1121(A)(11)); ask for the ROC license number and check that its classification covers the work, and note that a complaint to the ROC must be filed within two years of project completion (ARS 32-1162).
Doing it yourself
Property owners may do work themselves on structures intended solely for their own occupancy, and unlicensed persons may do casual or minor work under $1,000 when no building permit is required (ARS 32-1121).
