Plumber licenses in
Florida
Florida licenses some plumbers statewide and leaves the rest to cities and counties.
Official search run by Florida DBPR Construction Industry Licensing Board at myfloridalicense.com.
What the license should say
In Florida you'll see one of these on a plumber's card, bid or truck:
- Certified plumbing contractor (CF)
- Business or individual; statewide license, unlimited in the plumbing trade.
- Registered plumbing contractor (RF)
- Business or individual; may contract only in the local jurisdictions where it holds a competency card.
Hiring a company, not a person?
Certified (statewide) or registered (local) plumbing contractor license from DBPR; registered contractors also need the local competency card.
Doing it yourself
Under s. 489.103(7) an owner acting as their own contractor on a one- or two-family home for their own occupancy is exempt if they provide direct onsite supervision of all work not done by licensed contractors.
City and county licenses
Some places in Florida also license plumbers locally.
