What the license should say
In Kentucky you'll see one of these on a plumber's card, bid or truck:
- Master plumber
- Individual; represents the plumbing company and pulls permits.
- Journeyman plumber
- Individual; installs plumbing under the supervision of a licensed master plumber.
Hiring a company, not a person?
Plumbing must be installed by a licensed journeyman under the supervision of a licensed master plumber, and a company must have a master plumber representing it.
Doing it yourself
Plumbing permits may be issued to licensed master plumbers or to homeowners for plumbing in their own personal residences.
