What the license should say
In Montana you'll see one of these on a plumber's card, bid or truck:
- Master plumber
- Individual; may obtain permits and may not lend the license to another business.
- Journeyman plumber
- Individual.
Hiring a company, not a person?
No separate plumbing contractor license found; a master plumber may use the license only for the master's own business, and construction contractors with employees need a CCL license
Doing it yourself
An owner of a single-family residence used only for personal use may install the sanitary plumbing and potable water piping without a license (MCA 37-69-102)
