In Tennessee you may see one of these:

Broker: May run a real estate firm and supervise other licensees.
Affiliate broker: Works under a licensed broker.
Time-share salesperson: Sells time-share interests.

The rule to know

Brokers, affiliate brokers and real estate firms are licensed under Tennessee Code Annotated Title 62, Chapter 13.

If something goes wrong

The Real Estate Education and Recovery Account pays up to $15,000 per transaction on a court judgment against a licensee, capped at $30,000 per licensee.
