In Alabama you may see one of these:

Resident producer: Individual licensed by line of authority to sell insurance in Alabama.
Surplus line broker: Separate license for placing coverage with non-admitted insurers.

Producers must be licensed for each line of authority they sell, and lines not on the application require a new application.
