What the license should say

In Florida you may see one of these:

Sales Associate: Must work for a registered broker.
Broker: May operate independently or employ sales associates.
Real Estate Company: Corporation, LLC, partnership or branch office registration.

A person may not operate as a broker or sales associate without a valid and current active license, and doing so is a third-degree felony.

The Florida Real Estate Recovery Fund is a state account that can pay people harmed by licensees.

Ask for the license number and the name of the supervising broker, then search both.
