In Maine you'll see one of these on an electrician's card, bid or truck:
- Master electrician
- Individual; engages in the business of installing electrical wiring and equipment.
- Journeyman electrician
- Individual; makes installations in the employment of a master, limited electrician or electrical company.
- Limited electrician

Hiring a company, not a person?
No separate business license was found; a master electrician is the person licensed to engage in the business of installing electrical wiring
Doing it yourself
A person may do electrical work in an existing single-family dwelling they own and occupy if it meets the National Electrical Code (32 MRS 1201-A(13))
