Electrician licenses in
Nevada
Nevada licenses electricians statewide.
Official search run by Nevada State Contractors Board at app.nvcontractorsboard.com.
What the license should say
In Nevada you'll see one of these on an electrician's card, bid or truck:
- C-2 Electrical contracting
- Contractor business; may install electrical wires, fixtures, appliances, raceways and conduits.
- C-2a Electrical wiring
- Contractor business; installation, alteration and repair of electrical wires, fixtures and apparatus.
- C-2f Residential wiring
- Contractor business; wiring at 600 volts or less on structures up to three stories.
Hiring a company, not a person?
A C-2 electrical contracting license (or a C-2 subclassification) from the Nevada State Contractors Board is required for the business; Nevada issues contractor licenses rather than individual journeyman licenses.
Doing it yourself
An owner building or improving a residential structure on their own property for their own occupancy, not for sale or lease, is exempt from contractor licensing but must apply to the Board for the owner-builder exemption (NRS 624.031).
