What the license should say
In Nevada you'll see one of these on a plumber's card, bid or truck:
- C-1 Plumbing and heating contracting
- Contractor business; may perform any work in the C-1 subclassifications.
- C-1d Plumbing
- Contractor business; water supply, waste and vent, roof drainage, hydronic heating up to 200,000 BTU and gas supply.
- C-1a Boilers
- Contractor business; installation of boilers and pipes for hot water and steam.
Hiring a company, not a person?
A C-1 plumbing and heating contracting license (or a C-1 subclassification such as C-1d plumbing) from the Nevada State Contractors Board is required for the business.
Doing it yourself
An owner building or improving a residential structure on their own property for their own occupancy, not for sale or lease, is exempt from contractor licensing but must apply to the Board for the owner-builder exemption (NRS 624.031).
